Alexandra (Alexz) Craddock, MA

Who am I?

I am a linguist, translator, proofreader, copyeditor, perfectionist, and chronic expat. I’m an all-in type of person—when your project is in my hands, it is my top priority. I’m originally from Atlanta, GA, USA, lived in different parts of Spain for years, and am currently based in Bedfordshire, UK. I love words (and the sounds they make) above all things.

What qualifications do I have?

  • BA Spanish Language and Literature, University of Georgia (USA)

  • Certificate in Bilingual Education, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Spain)

  • MA Applied Linguistics, University of Bedfordshire (UK)

What sets me apart from other translators?

My absolute commitment to and passion for my source languages. Having spent many years in the incredibly diverse linguistic contexts of Spain (shoutout to València, Euskadi, and Catalunya!), I am intimately familiar with the people, history, and culture of the Iberian Peninsula. I also have extensive training and knowledge of the many dialects of Spanish, from Málaga to Buenos Aires to Medellín to La Havana.

I take great pride in developing and maintaining my Spanish and Catalan language skills through relationships, books, movies, TV shows, and frequent visits to Barcelona. I am also a proficient academic writer in the fields of applied linguistics, multilingualism, phonetics and phonology, and dialectology.

All of my language experience means that I am better able to grasp the meaning of a text in Catalan or Spanish and convey it in English, following relevant conventions and guidelines.
